Quick Trip to Martha’s Vineyard

July 14, 2017

Will and I went to Martha’s Vineyard for a night a few weeks ago before shooting a wedding on Great Island.  The Vineyard is one of my favorite places, it’s where Will and I met and where we married.  We’re lucky to have a family home there and plan to spend much of August on Island. We will be sharing our favorite spots and things to do while we’re there.   This trip was so brief and very rainy, but we wandered into Edgartown which is the most polished of the three villages.  We also went ‘up island’ for a look at the sea and the beach before heading back to town for dinner.  Here are some of the beautiful things we saw.

On the drive ‘up island’ one passes fields with stone walls and grazing animals, it feels very much like the English countryside to me (especially on this gray day).  You can’t see in the photo below but the sea sits right behind and it is the most beautiful view.  The Bite is one of the great quick take away places in Menempsha — it’s all fried and it’s a dry town so BYOB!

It was really fun to cruise around the Island in a jeep.  We had the roof down all day (which I love) — we ended up buying sweatshirts to stay warm and cozy while the wind whipped around us.  Can’t wait to show you more of the Island when we head back for a bit longer!
