Visiting Napa: Frog’s Leap

July 31, 2017

Will and I have been in Napa for the weekend preparing for a wedding that we are photographing on Monday.  We’re so thrilled to be back, this is one of our favorite places so we added on a day of travel to make sure that we had a bit of time to relax and enjoy.   The light is particularly beautiful right now, especially in the early evening.  We are so grateful to all of you who have been following along on Instagram for offering fantastic recommendations.  I wish I had asked sooner because we have so much to see now but we’re coming back in September so we will be a bit better about reserving ahead.  Regardless,  Frog’s Leap was a must-see after hearing about the amazing gardens.  We arrived right at closing time but managed to squeeze in a quick tasting and then had the gardens all to ourselves to relax and enjoy.  Needless to say, we lingered for ages, relaxing in the sun and strolling around the spectacular property.

Frog’s Leap is unlike any other vineyard we have visited.  It is lovely and spread out, and there are many places to sit quietly and privately.  The gardens sit right on the vines, so one minute you’re walking down a row of beautiful flowers and the next you’re in the amongst the grapes.   This seems to be a particularly popular time to visit (it’s more crowded than we have seen before), and Frog’s Leap offered a perfect break from the bustle.  We will be back for a full tasting and tour when we return in September!
