I have been on the hunt for a great trench coat for the past few seasons. To me the trench is as versatile as a jean jacket; it goes with pretty much anything and is a great shoulder season piece. It’s also something that is worth investing in as it lasts for years to come and won’t go out of style. I am trying to make more intentional purchases by selecting classic, ageless pieces that I know that I will treasure for a while. I also love that because the trench is so neutral, it makes getting dressed even easier. I don’t have time to think about what I am wearing for too long in the morning and this goes with pretty much anything. I am going to walk you through just three of the ways to rock a trench coat. This first look is a fall classic; I paired it with a sweet, feminine dress, cashmere scarf and neutral flats, perfect for weekend exploring.
(I love this scarf too by the way, the color is my favorite and it is so soft!)
I love how the coat can go from day to night. I have dressed it up a bit with a pair of velvet pink heels, a neutral white dress and a flirty silk scarf. This could be great for cocktails, dinner out or even a ladies lunch — and the look would work well in spring too! A trench also looks great with a little black dress, black heels and a red lip. I am sure that I will be wearing that exact combination quite a bit this fall.
A trench is a perfect coat for work. It is formal enough to dress up jeans and a tee but also goes well over a simple white button down shirt and black skirt. It would work well over a shift dress with similar heels (these are black velvet), black trousers and a button down or even a jump suit. I have linked to a few which I think would pair well below! xx
