Will and I met on a boat. We love being on the water. We haven’t managed to do enough of it until now! My father gave Will a rowboat for his birthday (early October) and we headed out on our first voyage last night. We named her Merica after Will’s late grandmother.
It is still warm enough to wrap up in light jackets and blankets and we are situated on a pond where you can row to the beach and watch the sunset over the ocean. We made it about half way before we realized we would be paddling back in the pitch black to the remote woodland embankment where we are storing the boat. It was a great decision to turn around after a floating cocktail hour (goldfish and Albarino, great combo) and we decided it is probably best to do sunrise family floats as there is more margin for error.
We do plan to take the boat with our fire pit to the beach one of these final warm days for a “cooking with fire” post.
