We’ve had great friends to stay with us the last ten days in France. My childhood best friend Lizzy and her fiancé Adam, as well as two of our close friends from Charleston, Augusta and Brandon, were in the first round off arrivals. They were incredible guests — they noticed that we had a lot to manage with the baby and really ended up hosting us which was so spoiling! One evening Augusta set up a cocktail hour on my grandmother’s terrace so that we could enjoy the sunset before heading down for dinner. She snipped a few roses and threw together a very pretty set up for us all to enjoy — so lovely!
Augusta has an amazing eye for design and it was such fun to see what grabbed her attention. There is a wealth of options in my Grandmother’s house and I loved how she paired the various blue & white plates with lemons in the garden and yellow provincial napkins. It was also so nice to see how much our friends understood the magic of this place without explanation. They sunk into the property, enjoying tennis and naps, exploring nearby and swimming in the sea and in the pool. We’re on a pretty late schedule here (eating dinner around 11) and that was no problem for any of us — total relaxation. Everybody made the effort to dress up for dinner and we giggled late into the night by the fire.
We’re so excited to photograph Lizzy & Adam’s wedding in August! They are getting married in Seattle (where we grew up). It was fun to go over some of the plans for the day while they were here, I cannot wait to see it come to life. They are so sweet together, it was a joy to be around.
