France Favorites

July 12, 2017

Because haven’t quite recovered from our fantastic trip to France we wanted to share some France Favorites, our favorite towns and things to do.  I keep looking over our photos and am yearning to be back!  We of course were so lucky to stay at our family home and I would recommend renting a house if you can stay for any length of time.  A kitchen and place to nest allows you to sink into the way of life and to feel like you are living there, at least temporarily, which to me, is a one of the great joys of spending time abroad.

St. Tropez is the largest town nearby.  It is a port with fantastic shopping and restaurants.  The largest local market is there on Tuesdays and Saturdays from 7-1 and it’s full of vegetables, fruits, pastries, baskets, cashmere and leather goods.  It’s definitely worth a visit!  I also love a few local boutiques — Bar and Baas and Lulus.  The ice cream from Barbarac is unmissable!

Grimaud and Gassin are two my favorite local smaller villages.  Grimaud is covered in climbing flowers and is so picturesque and Gassin is smaller and sits on a mountain top with views of St. Tropez.   These towns are both beautiful for a meal or a walk and easily qualify as our France Favorites.

My favorite beach club, Le Club 55, is the best place to spend a day — the restaurant, beach bar and shop are all favorites and we spent as much time there as possible.  The sea is cold but is the most beautiful crystal clear blue.  Luckily, June wasn’t too crowded and we didn’t face the bustle of the later summer months.

We spent a large part of our time the house because of the baby and guests — we loved every minute of it and cannot wait to go back, hopefully soon!
