Date Night: Sullivan’s Island

May 18, 2017

Oh my gosh you guys, Will and I used to come here every. single. night.  Come rain or shine, we walked the beach in winter and swam in the spring and summer.   It was our work break, our ‘out of office’ moment.  Since the baby has been born, we have spent more time exploring our neighborhood and enjoying leisurely bath and bedtime routines at home.  Last night, Will and I went out for a quick date to our favorite Charleston restaurant,…

Farmer’s Market

May 17, 2017

I can’t believe that this was our first trip to the farmer’s market this season!  It has been open for a month but with travel and work, we just got there this afternoon.   Lucky for us, strawberries are still going to be around for a few more weeks and we also bought tons of fresh vegetables, arugula, pasta and eggs.  I have been snacking on the most delicious, ripe, sweet blackberries all afternoon while editing on the computer and am…

Mother’s Day Gift Ideas

April 27, 2017

As many of you know, Baby R’s arrival makes this my first Mother’s Day and, as they say,  “my cup runneth over” with happiness.  As much as we were told how deeply we would fall in love with our son and with parenthood, we didn’t realize the new level of joy that he brought into our lives overnight.  Now, suddenly a proud mother, it just doesn’t seem that long ago that I was tottering up to my own mother’s room with…

Pizza Party

April 19, 2017

Pizza has become one of our favorite things to cook on our kamado grill; we thought it might be fun to share a ‘pizza party’ although we will create an updated one soon (with a set table) as this one was cut short by a family walk in the park. It is quite easy to make the dough, and to quickly pull the toppings together in the time it takes the coals to warm up (to 650 degrees).  We warm up a little garlic oil,…

Springtime Strawberry Picking

April 13, 2017

Luckily for us, springtime strawberry picking starts early in the South.  We were so excited to head out to the farm; it seemed a perfect way to keep exploring our lovely city and to sample one or two strawberries fresh off the vine.  We have heard a lot of wonderful things about the Ambrose Farm CSA  from our neighbors and friends; we invited our friends Julia and Thomas to come along. The farm was bursting with so many rows of fresh…

Winter table with Charleston Stems

February 12, 2016

A really playful table with the amazing Charleston Stems brightening up a winter’s afternoon. We used these Hermes dessert plates and Ralph Lauren blue glasses set the tone for a colorful scene.  A splash of hot pink in the napkin complemented was picked up in Anne’s selection of flowers:   ponies, ranunculus, poppies, snap peas, tulips, scabiosa and licorice vine. The West Elm mercury votives seen below soften everything nicely. Anne used Kumquats in her arrangements, they ripen in late winter and are perfect to…
