I saw a photograph on One Kings Lane this week of a really over the top pumpkin-lined house and it got me very excited for this coming season and I was inspired to re-create a similar look on our front steps. This particular day I was in the mood for “more is more” and grabbed lots of colors at the flower shop that I wouldn’t normally use but which are so appropriate and fun for this time of year. We picked up loads of pumpkins at the market and topped off our steps with some glowing lanterns and candlelight. So many of you asked in our Insta stories about these lanterns. I picked them up from a local nursery/very chic shop called Abide Awhile. They’re SO pretty and definitely worth collecting and I know that I have sent a few of you there already but they have some lanterns left so call them if you want them too!!
I particularly love the neon pops of orange, and who knew that mums are so abundant and inexpensive? What a festive way to decorate without having to invest too much. I had trouble picking a color scheme and ended up trying to shoot for an ombre feeling which didn’t quite pan out but I love the vibrant mix. We picked up these pumpkins at Whole Foods but they’re all over town — the little white ones are my favorite but there are so many pretty varieties. We’ve had so many people rolling through the house this week, from guests to friends for dinner, that it felt like the perfect time to jazz up the steps and to create a more welcoming entrance. It was all looking a bit ragged after being away for so long. We’re also really hoping to score more trick or treaters this year and if this doesn’t do the trick, I am not sure what else could!!!
(I have been wearing my new shoes all week; I love them! They are so comfortable, fun and versatile. Also have worn this skirt which Club Monaco just released so much! )
