A Perfect Bathtime with Serena & Lily

May 19, 2017

I’m excited to share a little project that we have been working on with “Serena & Lily”, my favorite home inspired collection.   Those of you who know me well know that my bathroom is a sanctuary, and those of you who have known me for any length of time will have very likely seen me in my bathrobe.  As a family, we enjoy long baths and extended robe time, one of the perks of working from home!

We moved into this house last January.  We have never moved into a “new build” and we love it so much but have been incrementally changing out the standard fixtures and fittings and replacing them with items that we have chosen and love.   At the center of this bathroom project are the “Serena & Lily” mirror and light fixture; both have added great warmth and softened what was there before.   I have been coveting this mirror for quite some time because I love the rattan edge.   I have to say that it has exceeded my expectations in a surprising way — I know this is odd but I prefer how I look in this mirror than its predecessor!

As a part of the bathroom upgrade, we have treated ourselves to all new “Serena & Lily” bathroom linens. What a luxury their fluffy towels are! They are are shockingly soft and absolutely huge, which are things I love and are surprisingly difficult to find.   The hand towel is so large that we can use it as a bath towel for the baby (he also loves how soft it is!).  We also love the “Serena & Lily” “Ahoy” bathmat that seems particularly fitting with Will’s sailing background and echoes the theme of our beach photographs that decorate the walls.

The “Serena & Lily” seagrass baskets are the finishing touch and the perfect place to store the fluffy towels.  They also are great laundry baskets and make it easy to cart a lot of stuff up and down the stairs — something we have to do often with the baby.

Here are my tips for the a relaxing bath to help you unwind after a long week: (1) Add two heaping scoops of Epsom Salts to the running water; (2) Pour in a splash of lavender chamomile bubble bath. I buy the Whole Foods brand and put it in a beautiful glass bottle; (3) Dim the lights, light the candles and put on some music (I like Van Morrison!); (4) Put the phone on “do not disturb” and pick up a magazine; (5) Look forward to drying off with the fluffiest towel and wearing your luxurious “Serena & Lily” bathrobe for the rest of the evening! Heaven! xx
