As we welcome new readers (we are so grateful that you are here), I thought it might be nice to tell you a bit more about us, backstory and ambitions that aren’t listed in our bio…here it goes!

I grew up in five different cities:   Washington D.C., London, Seattle, Los Angeles and New York City. I absolutely loved bouncing around like this and felt very lucky to grow up in such incredible cities — I still have great friends in each.

My mother’s family is from England and so we spend a lot of time there and in the South of France where my late Grandmother bought a home which my family still gathers in.   My Grandmother (“Gaga”) passed down her love for decorating and collecting to her four daughters, my mother included, and they are my style mentors.

My husband is also English (a coincidence).  We met onboard a sail boat on Martha’s Vineyard.  I was there vacationing with my family and Will was working as a Captain (he had sailed a boat from England… #hot).   I only had two days left;  Will rowed to shore for our first date (a good 45 minutes) and we talked on the dock until the sun rose.   I thought it was just a summer romance but the following week, Will drove me down to Savannah (from New York) and moved me into my graduate school apartment.  We spent a year apart while I was in school and Will sailing but we moved in together as quickly as we could and eloped on a frozen lake in Maine six months later.  We are celebrating five years married at the end of this month — January 31st!

Our move to Charleston was a huge gamble!   We were given a weekend giveaway to Charleston as a wedding present (what a great friend!!!).   After two days, we were absolutely in love with the city;  the balmy air, proximity to the sea, bustling restaurant scene, and of course incredible beauty were each reason enough for us.   After two long winters together (which were very cozy and romantic), I remember Will remarking how wonderful it would be to live in a city where we could have the windows down most of the year — we are both warm weather lovers.  We moved down six weeks later and have never looked back, we love living here and really love the friends we have made.

We have the loveliest little boy.  He is 18 months old and is the light of our lives.  His name is Rory, although I often refer to him as “Baby R”.  He just starting to speak and can say, hi, bye bye, cat cat, ball, mama, dada, and uh oh.    We’re loving every. single. minute.   We would love to have at least two more children and aren’t in a rush… will keep you posted!  We also have two cats, sisters, “Bandit” and “Agave” and Rory adores them.

Will and I do most things together.  We have been working in tandem since we were married and both love it.   Will reads me to sleep every night which has cured my old sleepless tendencies — very spoiling.   On the rare occasion that we travel separately, we read on FaceTime, even with a big time difference.

Starting this blog was something I wanted to do for years!!  We’re so thrilled that we finally did it!  I think it’s scary when you’re getting started, I spent a lot of time wondering what it “was”.   Truth is, it’s just a culmination of everything that we love: photography, dreamy light, inviting environments, travel, textures and color.   I love introducing luxurious, delicious products that I think are worth it — the best of the best doesn’t always have to be the most expensive.    This year we’re really planning to ramp up our content; we feel so lucky to have the flexibility and freedom to photograph exactly what we love every day and we feel grateful to each and every one of you for making it possible.  We hope you enjoyed learning a bit more about us.
