We returned home late last night after photographing a wedding on Monday in Napa. We were working with my dear friend and very talented wedding planner, Jacin Fitzgerald. Jacin has an amazing eye for detail and the venue we were shooting at was out of this world — can’t wait to show you a little peak in our round up later in the week. We always arrive at least a day early (usually two) to scout. We make sure that we’re familiar with the lighting conditions and the area so that we’re ready for the big day — and we don’t risk any flight delays too! We feel so lucky to be invited to photograph in these beautiful areas and enjoy exploring in our off time. Jacin is a Napa whizz and insisted that we head to Bouchon Bakery (we ate there for dinner the night of our arrival too) — totally worth the wait! We had almond croissants (my favorite) and the toffee we picked up there was the perfect dessert for the entire weekend.
After a morning meeting with our bride and our bakery stop, Will and I drove around to familiarize ourselves with the area. We walked around beautiful St. Helena and really wanted to stop for lunch at Archetype (after so many of you said how amazing it is) but just missed the cut off — next time! We met Jacin at Ma(i)sonry around 5. Because she is a member, we were spoiled rotten and were able to try so many beautiful local wines and champagnes — we bought a few bottles of delicious rosé champagne to enjoy after the wedding night and at home. I loved it there because sitting outside in the courtyard in the evening light reminded me so much of France. We followed up with a quiet but perfect dinner at Goose and Gander.
